Anthropic’s AI-powered voice assistant, Claude, has received a significant update, enhancing its capabilities by enabling users to engage in longer and more complex voice conversations while executing practical tasks through voice commands.
Claude Takes Intelligence to the Next Level
The update introduces three distinct AI models—Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku—that users can switch between during voice interactions. This flexibility ensures an optimal model for every task, whether it’s refining communication style, practicing presentations, or brainstorming new ideas.
Moreover, Claude now connects with external applications such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Canva, and Notion. This allows users to perform direct tasks like rescheduling meetings, drafting emails, or creating documents in Notion using only voice commands. These integrations provide Claude with a competitive edge over competitors like ChatGPT, whose recent updates mainly focus on improving conversational abilities without offering comparable app integration for task execution.
Unlike other systems, Claude still relies on its role-based interaction style, where it listens and processes requests before responding, rather than providing instant replies like GPT Live. While this approach hasn’t changed in the update, it ensures a clear and concise communication channel during voice interactions.
Another enhancement includes expanded language support. The voice assistant now accommodates multiple languages, including English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish, making it accessible to a wider audience.
The new update is being rolled out in a trial phase through Claude’s mobile, desktop, and web applications. Free-tier users have access to the Haiku model and can connect one application, while subscribers on paid plans can switch between all models and link multiple applications simultaneously, providing more robust functionality.
With these advancements, Claude stands out as a versatile and efficient assistant, blending advanced AI conversations with practical, task-oriented features that cater to diverse needs.
